Disposition of Records - Bank statements from 1967-to 1969 etc

A RESOLUTION of BOROUGH COUNCIL , of BOLIVAR BOROUGH, Westmoreland County, PENNSYLVANIA, DECLARING ITS INTENT TO FOLLOW THE SCHEDULES AND PROCEDURES FOR DISPOSITION OF RECORDS AS SET FORTH IN THE MUNICIPAL RECORDS MANUAL APPROVED ON DECEMBER 16, 2008.

WHEREAS, a Local Government Records Committee was created by ACT 428 of 1968 and empowered thereby to make rules and regulations for records disposition, and,

WHEREAS, the Municipal Records Manual was approved by said committee on December 16, 2008, and

WHEREAS, the BOLIVAR BOROUGH, desires to dispose of records according to statutory requirements;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by ,BOROUGH COUNCIL, of BOLIVAR BOROUGH , WESTMORELAND COUNTY, Pennsylvania, that it intends to follow the schedules and procedures for disposition of records as set forth in the Municipal Records Manual approved on December 16, 2008.

The following records have been shredded on this date: February 25, 2016

Bank statements and copies of cancelled checks from time period of January 1967 through December 1969 were shredded. Current Municipal Records Manuel dated December 6, 2008 and amended July 23, 2009, states Bank Statements and Reconciliations prepared by banks and Cancelled checks paid by bank as proof of payee receiving funds, retain for period of (7) seven years and may be destroyed. Also destroyed were daily cash records, receipts and disbursements from January 1967 through December 1969.

Retention period for those items are (3) three years.
